Mark Crider began his scouting adventure in 1968 in Ontario, Ohio with Pack 172 as a cub scout. He progressed through the ranks and eventually through Webelos. In 1972 he joined troop 117 as part of the Johnny Appleseed council in central Ohio. He attended Camp Avery Hand Boy Scout Camp every summer for 8 years as a scout and a counselor. He held positions as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. He was inducted into the Lou Ott Lodge of the order of the arrow and in 1977 attended Philmont Scout Ranch hiking over 70 miles in 12 days. In 1978 he was awarded the rank of Eagle.
He attended The Ohio State University graduating with a BS in Natural resources. After graduation he attended Aviation Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as an Ensign and immediately began flight school. He completed flight school and received his wings in May 1986. He was assigned to VF-124 Replacement Air Group at Naval Air Station Miramar in San Diego flying the F-14 Tomcat. Crider served with VF-191, Satans Kittens, VF-213, Blacklions and at the Pacific Missile Test Center. During his career he completed an around the world cruise on the USS Enterprise, and the inaugural cruise on the USS Abraham Lincoln. He accumulated over 1500 flight hours and 230 traps.
After leaving the US Navy Mark attended the FBI academy in Quantico Virginia. During his almost 22 year career he worked almost every criminal violation the FBI investigates. He was also a Technically Trained Agent as well as a firearms, defensive tactics, tactical and active shooter instructor. He was also designated as a FBI Master Police Instructor, one of less than 50 in the history of the FBI. During his career he served in the Milwaukee, Spokane and at FBI Headquarters offices and deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo, Cuba.
In 2018 he was elected as the Sheriff of Walla Walla County where he is still currently serving.
